G.H. Hayat, MD, is a critical care specialist, sleep medicine specialist, and expert pulmonologist at Pulmonary Medicine Associates in Sacramento, California. He’s bilingual in English and Farsi, providing quality care to the diverse Greater Sacramento community. He takes pride in caring for sick patients and enjoys listening to their stories.
Dr. Hayat earned his medical degree from Shiraz University School of Medicine in Shiraz, Iran. He completed his first year of residency at Mount Sinai Hospital through Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine in North Chicago, Illinois. He continued his residency training at Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, before completing his postgraduate training with a fellowship in allergy and pulmonology care at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Hayat has held multiple leadership positions, including several medical director positions, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He’s also a diplomate of the Subspecialty Board of Pulmonary Medicine and of the Subspecialty Board of Critical Care Medicine. Additionally, he’s an active member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society, and the California Medical Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Hayat values his time with his wife, two sons, and three grandchildren. One of his sons is also his colleague at Pulmonary Medicine Associates. He enjoys activities in the mountains and near the ocean as well as hunting, gardening, and playing poker.
